One of the most important roles for Internal Communications in business is translating organisational strategy into a digestible narrative for employees. Most successful businesses will have a clear roadmap to what success looks like in the mid to long term. Sharing that roadmap with employees and engaging them on how they fit into it and the behaviours they will need to demonstrate to achieve it can be the difference between success and failure.

One of the biggest challenges in a commercial environment is that organisational strategy is a rapidly fluid concept. Whilst there may be broad high level objectives; market conditions and the external environment can mean regular changes to an organisations story.

Whilst storyboarding is a useful exercise to help define what your organisations journey looks like; the following is a useful a way to bring your strategy to life.

The key to good storytelling is structure. Every narrative needs a beginning, middle and an end. That is no different in business.
